This is a serious issue, so be sure to run diagnostics on the engine before the situation gets any worse.

If you’re noticing strange knocking, grinding, or squealing noises coming from the car’s engine bay, this is a sure sign that you’ll need to run engine tests ASAP. You’ll also want to pay careful attention to what you hear from the exhaust as sputtering or popping sounds usually mean that the engine isn’t running optimally. An automobile engine is complicated and comprises many important moving parts, and any odd noises it produces could be a sign that significant damage has occurred.

Oil Patches on the Ground

When the car is parked for some time, you may notice it leaving large oil patches under the engine bay. This indicates that there is a leak somewhere on the engine. Oil pan gaskets, cylinder head gaskets, and camshaft seals are just a few of the common places on the engine where leaks can be present.
